Filing Your Tax Return Over the Internet

System for 2001/02

  1. Register as a client of Achilles Accountancy Ltd.
  2. Let Achilles efile your tax return.

System for 2000/01

If you wish to file your tax return over the internet then :
1. Register on the Inland Revenue website. Don't forget to make a note of your password. This will be needed at later stages.
2. The Inland Revenue will then POST to you a User ID.
3. Log onto the Inland Revenue website using your password and complete your tax return online. This can be done in many sessions over several weeks.
4. Log onto the Inland Revenue site, review your tax return and then submit your tax return using your password.

System for 1999/2000

The problems surrounding the launch of the Inland Revenue efiling service have been well publicised. However, it is now up and running. The software required is supplied on a CD-ROM.
The efiling service is not available to partnerships or to individuals who have a capital gains tax liability.
WARNING The software requires MS Internet Explorer 5.0 to run and will install this program if it is not already present on your computer.

If you wish to file your tax return over the internet then :
1. Register on the Inland Revenue website at Inland Revenue. Don't forget to make a note of your password. This will be needed at later stages.
2. The Inland Revenue will then POST to you a User ID.
3. Request a CD-ROM from the Inland Revenue by email at helpdesk@ir-efile.gov.uk or telephone them on 0845 60 55 999.
If you are an Achilles Accountancy Ltd client then please contact me for a CD-ROM.
4. Install the software onto your pc.
5. Complete your tax return using the software just installed.
6. Download from the Inland Revenue website the i-file software.
7. Install the i-file software.
8. Upload your tax return using the i-file software, your user ID from step 2 and your password from step 1.
9. Pay any tax due by electronic means.
